Manassas Lioness Lions Club is asking the public to go through their book shelves, boxes and older children’s rooms for books that they could donate to the community book drive which runs until Nov. 15. Drop off sites noted below include two churches, a community center and a police station.

As part of the Freedom Museum’s Prisoner of War (POW) month activities, Retired Navy Admiral Robert Shumaker, who lives in Fairfax Station, will speak at the Museum on Sept. 8, from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m., about his experiences as a POW in Vietnam.
Trail hikers, runners, riders and friends are invited to participate in National Public Lands Day on Sept. 24 at at Dove’s Landing Park in Manassas for some trail building. "This pristine 235-acre of woods and wetlands Park near the confluence of Cedar Run and Broad Run tributaries is a sight to see," says Ed Dandar, one of the organizers.
