Prince William County Government Winter Shelter, operated by the Department of Social Services, will open today, Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 This is two days earlier than normal. The winter shelter normally opens Nov. 1. Social Services decided on the earlier opening because of expected cold weather. Temperatures were in the 40s Tuesday morning.

High water was affecting Prince William County roads Monday afternoon, Oct. 29, and some roads were closed, while others had been reopened, according to an update from Jason Grant, director of communications.
City of Manassas VA will open a shelter for Hurricane Sandy victims at 7 p.m. at Osbourn High School.
Prince William County VA has opened two shelters, one with animal accommodations, reports schools and courts closed on Tuesday.
Prince William County Public Schools and school division activities will be closed tomorrow due to weather-related conditions.
Virginia Department of Transportation said it was lifting HOV restrictions this afternoon, Oct. 29, on Interstates 66, 95, 395 and the Dulles Toll Road.
