Dominion Virginia Power and Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative announced on Feb. 28, 2013, that the utilities are seeking community input on plans to upgrade transmission lines serving Fauquier and Prince William counties to improve reliability.
NOVEC employees and contract crews are prepared to restore electric service if snow-heavy trees and branches fall onto power lines and knock out power.

Due to the impending snow event, the City of Manassas will declare a snow emergency effective at 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, March 5. Vehicles parked along designated snow emergency routes will be subject to towing and fines.

By 4 a.m. Wednesday, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) says it will deploy more than 4,000 salt trucks and plows throughout northern Virginia in preparation for up to a foot of wet, heavy snow.
Del. Richard L. Anderson (R-Prince William) will join nine other citizens on the newly-created Virginia Commission on Military Installations and Defense Activities, according to an Executive Order that Governor Bob McDonnell issued over the weekend.
