March virtual town halls on changing race/ethnicity data collection parameters for US Census

The U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Federal Interagency Technical Working Group on Race and Ethnicity Standards (Working Group) are hosting three Town Halls in March to hear directly from the American public about the initial proposals to revise Statistical Policy Directive No. 15: Standards for Maintaining, Collecting, and Presenting Federal Data on Race and Ethnicity (SPD 15).

PWC Police Department’s Crime Report for Feb. 28, 20232 - Arrest made in animal cruelty case

The investigation revealed the victim, a 21-year-old woman, and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation earlier in the day before the victim left the apartment. A short time later, the victim returned to the apartment to find her mixed Maine-Coon Tabby cat injured and lying on the floor.

March 18 Super-Bingo to benefit Haymarket Regional Food Pantry

Haymarket Regional Food Pantry's Soup-er Bingo will be held on Saturday, March 18, starting at 3 p.m. at Piney Branch Elementary located at 8301 Linton Hall Rd, Bristow, VA 20136.

Virginia State Park campgrounds will open on March 3

Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation campgrounds open on March 3. Full-service campgrounds with bathhouses are open from the first Friday in March through the first Monday in December.

Lake Ridge Middle School threatened; suspect, 12, held at PWC Juvenile Detention

On Feb. 22, 2023 at 6:13PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to investigate a potential threat of violence made towards Lake Ridge Middle School, 12350 Mohican Road in Woodbridge (22192), according to Master Police Officer Renee Carr, public information officer. The investigation revealed that an unknown individual, later identified as a student of another school, posted threats directed towards the school over Snapchat.

Police arrest suspect in Feb. 9 bank robbery in Woodbridge, VA

On Feb. 23, 2023 Prince William County Police Department detectives, charged a 27-year-old man in connection with the Feb. 9 robbery that occurred at the Truist Bank located at 16541 River Ridge Blvd in Woodbridg, VA (22191) on Feb. 9. Forensic evidence collected at the scene of the robbery ultimately led to the suspect’s identity, according to a police report.

Governor’s Award for PW Fire & Rescue Department, OWL VFD and Dumfries-Triangle VFD

Gov. Glenn Youngkin presented Virginia's Outstanding Fire Department Response award for 2022 to Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue, Dumfries-Triangle Volunteer Fire Department and Occoquan Woodbridge Lorton Volunteer Fire Department.
