A family of five was displaced this morning when fire broke out on the rear deck of a Lake Ridge townhouse on Tatiana Way and extended up into the attic and minimal damage to one adjoining home.

Responding officers and bystanders provided first aid to the pedestrian until rescue personnel arrived. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of the injuries sustained during the crash. The dog, identified as a male Akita between 5-7 years old, died at the scene.

Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a virtual construction update Wednesday, June 29 starting at 7 p.m. on work to rehabilitate northbound Route 29 (Lee Highway) bridge over Cub Run to improve driver and pedestrian safety and extend the overall life of the bridge.
