Open registration for Northern Virginia Community College’s spring 2015 semester starts Nov. 17. Students can secure their classes while the most choices are available without paying tuition until Dec. 16. Starting Dec. 16, tuition is due by 5 p.m. on the next business day after registering.
Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative's group of employee volunteers, NOVEC HELPS, is asking area residents to donate non-perishable food to the Operation Turkey drive to help provide Thanksgiving meals for low-income people in Prince William County.
Fire Marshals of the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue remind merchants to take the following necessary precautions to protect their patrons and merchandise during this holiday season which starts on Black Friday, Nov. 28.
On Monday, November 3rd, at approximately 1:00 p.m., fire and rescue units responded to a structure fire in a two-story single-family home located in the 3300 block of Burleigh Lane in Dale City. Upon arrival, fire and rescue units observed smoke and fire emanating from the structure’s rear basement door.
Manassas VFW Post 7589 has announced 11 Veterans Day activities for 2014, from Friday. Nov. 7 to Tuesday, Nov. 11.
After a competitive bid process that attracted 11 bidders, the city’s new general obligation bonds were awarded to PNC Capital Markets at a true interest cost of 2.73%. The $37,342,000 in bonds will be used to build the new Baldwin Elementary School. Repayment of these bonds plus interest will be completed in 2035.
Visitors and Virginians alike are encouraged to experience the fresh wild-caught and farm-raised oysters from Virginia's seven different oyster regions throughout November, as well as participate in the numerous oyster festivals and events around the Commonwealth. Oystering is a $22 million business for the state, up about 25% from 2012.
