Registration is taking place now for an eight-week session that begins Oct. 21 at Northern Virginia Community College. Registration for the session closes at 11:59 p.m. Oct. 20.
Currently, the Prince William County Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting which occurred in an area just inside Fairfax County. Officers initially responded to a residence located in the 7600 block of Lake Dr in Manassas (20111) at 2:11PM to investigate a report of a trespasser.

Prince William County Animal Shelter has received laboratory results confirming that Calicivirus has been introduced to the Shelter, and a majority of cats in the shelter has been infected. Calicivirus, known as Calici, is a highly contagious virus that causes upper respiratory and oral disease in cats.

Attorney General Mark R. Herring announced Sept. 22 that Virginia became the seventh the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Heroin Task Force (NEMA-HTF). This is a first-of-its kind task force that fosters cross-state collaboration and leverages resources to combat heroin distribution and the associated rise in heroin overdose fatalities.
Four students from Northern Virginia Community College’s Biotechnology Program recently completed George Mason University’s Aspiring Scientists Summer Internship Program. The students are Solmaz Eskandari Nezhad of Manassas, Christopher Johnson of Haymarket, Daniel Alvarez-Castegnaro of Alexandria and Stacey Boyd of Springfield.
Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-10th) Sept. 21 announced that the deadline for students interested in applying for a nomination by the 10th District Service Academy Advisory Board to one of the nation’s military academies for the Class of 2020 by 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 1st in the Sterling office.
