Charles City County farmer David Hula of Renwood Farms Inc. has topped nationwide yields for the 13th time, producing a 490.63 bushels-per-acre yield in the 2024 National Corn Growers Association Corn Yield Contest, according to the Virginia Farm Bureau. Prince William County Police report the January 8, 2025 arrest of a suspect, identified as James Francis BYRD, who was sought in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in the area of Bristow Rd. near Windy Hill Dr. in Nokesville (20181) on August 28, 2024. Thomas Spencer Stark, 63, of Nokesville died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Residents are asked to be in place and off of the roads by this afternoon and be aware of the potential for icy spots as freezing temperatures remain through much of the week. Please keep in mind there will be a multi-day response to this storm as VDOT works to make the roads passable.

Northern Virginia District crews will pretreat interstates, primaries, and high-volume secondary roads, along with bridges, ramps, and overpasses with salt brine today. Crews will start staging on area roads Sunday morning and will begin treatment as snow begins Sunday evening and night.
