How dry has this summer been? So dry that the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture has issued "natural disaster designations" for 15 locations in Virginia and contiguous area. This means farmers in Prince William County can now apply for drought assistance emergency loans. So can nearby farmers in Fairfax, Stafford, Culpeper and Fauquier.

Help children, veterans, who need transportation, deliver meals to seniors, help people who want to learn English, students who need tutoring & mentoring. Also needed are bilingual volunteers to help with a legal clinic and volunteers to help root out invasive species of plants at a Woodbridge park.

Weather permitting, the Route 28 (Sully Road/Centreville Road) and Route 29 interchange ramps will have nighttime closures Wednesday night, July 31; Thursday night, Aug. 1 and Sunday night, Aug. 4 through Thursday night, Aug. 8 between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. each night for paving, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

After much discussion and review, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors has amended its By-laws to provide for a new Board meeting schedule, according to a news release. Now, the Board’s schedule will typically include three meeting days a month with two planned business days on the first (A Day) and third (B Day) Tuesday of each month.
