Patriot High School's orchestra concert in Nokesville this evening will showcase new musical selections written by local composers and student composers as well as the orchestra director. A variety of musical selections as well a multimedia presentation will be presented to the audience.

Some students at Brentsville District High School, Marsteller Middle School and Nokesville Elementary areas of Prince William County Va. will need to be picked up at school by parents or guardians. School buses are unable to get through due to flooding in some areas.

Prince William County Va. Police Department's crime report for Monday, May 21. 2012 includes arrests for child neglect, brandishing firearms, attempted robbery of a pizza delivery man and assault and battery on a law enforcement officer as well as numerous reports of burglaries and attempted burglaries.
Students in the Prince William County Va. area who are thinking about attending West Point, Annapolis or other United States service academy can get all the particulars at an info session Monday, May 21. The session will be hosted by Rep. Gerry Connolly and Prince William County Schools.
Grant Lattin, a father of nine who had served 4.5 months of his third four-year term on the Prince William County Va. School Board, resigned suddenly last week, citing personal reasons.
Residents are urged to take advantage of the Virginia "sales tax holiday" May 25-31 to get stocked up with all the supplies they may need to weather a hurricane. The season for hurricanes coming off the Atlantic starts June.
Roadside mowing will be ongoing for about the next 4-5 months and the Virginia Department of Transportation asks the motoring public to please drive slowly and be especially alert in areas where the mowing crews are at work. Most roads will get up to three cycles of mowing over the spring-summer-fall, according to a VDOT news release.
