Virginia Grown apples are ripe and ready—for picking, for purchasing and of course, for eating. The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) reports the outlook for the 2015 apple crop is excellent and says this is probably the finest crop of Golden Delicious apples Virginia has produced in years.

he Virginia Department of Transportation will bring the new I-66 Active Traffic Management System (ATMS) online Wednesday, Sept. 16 at noon. The system will be implemented between the District of Columbia and Route 29 in Gainesville.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, Ryan Lopynski Big Heart Foundation will be offering free EKG screenings to area teens at the Recreation and Athletic Complex (RAC) on George Mason University’s Fairfax Campus. Screenings will be administered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Murder Investigation *UPDATE – Detectives from the Homicide Unit have determined that this incident was not random and had stemmed from a physical altercation just prior to the shooting. All three victims were known to one another. The relationship between the shooting suspect and the victims is currently being investigated.
Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) voted on Sept. 11, 2015 against the approval of President Obama’s proposed agreement on Iran’s nuclear program, according to a news release from his office in Washington. The legislation failed by a vote of 162-269.
