Virginia State Veterinarian issues Entry Permit for Santa’s Reindeer

Santa’s visit to Virginia may be brief each year, but it’s still vitally important to our state agricultural industry that his reindeer are healthy,” VDACS State Veterinarian Dr. Charlie Broaddus said. “It’s a privilege to issue permits for entry for Santa, and I hope he enjoys some fresh local Virginia milk and that the reindeer get plenty of Virginia grown carrots during their visit.”

Kindergarten registration April 6 & April 20 in Prince William County

Kindergarten registration will be held countywide on Thursday, April 6, and Thursday, April 20. Parents should contact the school their child will attend for specific registration times. Children must turn five years old before September 30, 2017 in order to register for kindergarten.

Nearly 2000 employees of Prince William County Schools recognized for service milestones

Outstanding service and dedication to the Prince William County School Division is being recognized as 1,748 employees receive pins to honor their service. Three employees have served 45 years with PWCS. They are Pamela Chryst, Kilby Elementary; Wandalyn Boley, Stonewall Jackson High; and Nancy Weaver, T. Clay Wood Elementary.

February is School Board Member Appreciation Month

Superintendent Steven L. Walts kicked off recognition of School Board Appreciation Month at the Board’s meeting on February 1. “Our School Board members deserve credit for the high quality of education that is provided to the students attending Prince William County Public Schools,” Walts was quoted as saying in a news release. “We could not do our jobs without the help, leadership, and the commitment of our dedicated School Board.”

PWC School Board special meeting called Jan. 4 to air BOCS’ resolution for new school construction

Prince William School Board Members Shawn Brann (Acting Member, Brentsville District) and Alyson Satterwhite (Gainesville District) said Dec. 30 they have issued a call for a special meeting of the Prince William County School Board (PWCS) on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 to discuss the Board of Supervisors' resolution for new school construction.
