Woodbridge Potomac Communities Civic Association and Prince William County Supervisor Frank J. Principi announced June 14 that the 3rd Annual International Cultural Festival will be held at 7 p.m., on Thursday, June 21, at the Dr. AJ Ferlazzo Government Center Atrium in Woodbridge. Va. Music Educators Assn. bestows BOC blue ribbon on nine Prince William County schools

Nine schools in Prince William County have earned the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) Blue Ribbon Award. The VMEA Blue Ribbon Award is the highest award given to music programs in Virginia and recognizes schools that achieve excellence in Band, Orchestra, and Choral (BOC) Performance.

All-County middle school bands to perform April 14 at Stonewall Middle

Top band students from Prince William County middle schools are honing their skills for the upcoming All-County Middle School Band concert scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 at Stonewall Middle School. The concert is free and open to the public.

Youth Orchestras of Prince William’s concert Feb. 18 at Hylton Center

Youth Orchestras of Prince William’s (YOPW) Music Director and Youth Symphony Orchestra interim Conductor, John Murton, will present the orchestra’s winter concert Air today, Sunday, February 18 at 3 pm. Air is the second performance of the season and features all of the YOPW ensembles.

Elementary singers prepare for All County Chorus program on Feb. 24

The annual Prince William All-County Elementary Chorus of approximately 175 singers will take the stage on Saturday, Feb. 24, at Charles J. Colgan, Sr. High School. This year the chorus will perform under the direction of Marsteller Middle School Choir Director Philip Keirstead.

Freedom High School Band marches in Governor’s Inaugural Parade Jan. 13

Freedom High School "Soul Squad" Marching Eagle Band participated in the Virginia Governor's Inaugural Parade in Richmond on Saturday, Jan. 13. Only four bands across the commonwealth were selected this year, and Freedom was one of two high school bands participating.

Much to his surprise, and to thunderous cheers from the crowd Oct. 6, JJ Kuchan, Osbourn Park High School's band director, was named New Educator of the Year by Apple Federal Credit Union.
