Tree planting and tree giveaway Oct. 16 at Bristoe Station

Join KPWB, the Arbor Day Foundation, and AWS InCommunities for a tree planting and tree giveaway 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Volunteers will be planting trees throughout the Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park, while 50 trees will be given to community members on a first come, first serve basis.

ACTS Helpline is a free service for those who need someone to listen to their thoughts and feelings. Listeners will assist with crisis intervention for suicide, sexual assault, and abuse. The crisis hotline is available 24 hours a day, and no problem is too big or small to be heard.

NOVEC offices are accepting food donations for Operation Turkey

Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative is accepting donations of non-perishable food for Operation Turkey until Nov.15. The Co-op will accept donations at its Gainesville, Manassas and Woodbridge offices to help provide Thanksgiving meals for unemployed and low-income people in Prince William County.

Helping Haitian Angels founder heard call to help struggling children

Hoofbeats to Hope horse show Sept. 9 to raise funds for ovarian cancer research

The second Homestead Farm Musical Freestyle Challenge horse show in Catlett VA on Sept. 9 to benefit ovarian cancer research will be dedicated to Marikae Kinross-Wright, the sister of Hoofbeats to Hope’s founder.
