On May 12, 2022, the juvenile suspect, 16, from Woodbridge and sought in connection with the May 8 fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Dumfries man, that occurred in the area of the Somerset Pointe Apartments located in the 14000 block of Deming Dr. in Gainesville (20155), was arrested, according to Prince William County Police reports.

On Thursday, April 26, 2022 at 9:57AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to a residence located in the Woodbridge (22193) area of Prince William County to investigate a fatal overdose. The investigation revealed the victim, a 14-year-old male juvenile, was suspected of ingesting a counterfeit Percocet and became unconscious. Life-saving efforts were attempted; the victim was transported to an area hospital where he died.

On May 10, detectives with the Prince William County Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau identified two suspects sought in connection to the fatal shooting that occurred in the area of the Somerset Pointe Apartments located in the 14000 block of Deming Dr. in Gainesville (20155) on May 8. One of the suspects is a juvenile.

The suspect did not speak to either victim during the two separate encounters. Detectives with the Special Victims Bureau are actively investigating the incidents and are seeking to speak with anyone who may have seen the suspect in the area at the time of the assaults who matched the provided description.

Through a PWCPD partnership with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), a $5,000 reward is being offered in connection with the arrest and conviction of the suspect involved. The Prince William County Police Department is also offering up to an additional $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.
