National Bike to School Day draws 240 riders at Glenkirk Elementary

National Bike to School Day was a hit with 240 students and 30 parents riding to Glenkirk Elementary School May 6. More than 25 per cent of the students chose to bike to school. For doing so, they were entered in a drawing to win one of four bicycles or backpacks.

Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Mark Warner (D-VA) April 28 reintroduced legislation to protect horses from the abusive practice known as soring - in which show horse trainers apply blistering or burning agents, lacerations, sharp objects, or other substances or devices to a horse's limb to intentionally make each step painful, forcing a horse to perform an exaggerated high-stepping gait that is rewarded in show rings.

NOVA-Manassas celebrates DNA Day with special guest Kirk Odom

Every year since 2011, Assistant Dean of Science Ia Gomez has organized the National DNA Day celebration at NOVA-Manassas. National DNA Day commemorates the completion of the Human Genome Project in April 2003 and the discovery of the double helix in 1953. This year’s speaker was Kirk Odom who was falsely convicted of rape.
