Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians share responsibilities to ensure safety on the road. For example, motorists must pass bicyclists at a reasonable speed and at least 3 feet to the left of the cyclist. Bicyclists must obey all traffic laws. Pedestrians should wear reflective clothing and must walk, jog or run on the side of the road facing traffic.

Prince William County Police have joined law enforcement agencies throughout Virginia as part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign and the local Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign. The campaigns start today, Friday, Aug. 19, and continue through Monday, Sept. 5.

Va. State Police press release reveals some of the latest and newest tricks of telephone scammers and caller ID "spoofing." Residents, especially seniors, are urged to watch out. The caller ID number used by this scam is a legitimate Virginia State Police Area Office phone number. State police has received numerous calls concerning this scam within the past few days.

Virginia's governor Terry McAuliffe will host his first Cyber-Physical Systems Summit on Sept. 20-22 at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility in Newport News. The purpose of the summit, in conjunction with the National Governors Conference, is to build awareness of the growing challenges associated with securing autonomous systems, critical infrastructure and the Internet of Things.
