Rescue Engine 521, the first advanced life support capable fire apparatus in the City of Manassas Fire and Rescue system, now has a cardiac monitor, medication bag and other ALS equipment that will allow paramedics riding the apparatus to perform life-saving interventions until an ambulance can arrive on scene.

Temporary stoppages along Cardinal Drive between Beau Ridge Drive and Andover Heights Drive in the Dale City area will occur Tuesday, March 5 through Thursday, March 7 for work related to a Dominion Energy transmission line replacement project

On March 3 at 12:39AM, Prince William County police officers responded to the area of Rippon Blvd. and Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed that while in a nearby parking lot the victim and the suspect were engaged in an argument that escalated. During the encounter, a firearm was brandished and the victim was shot. The suspect fled the area on foot while uninvolved residents aided the victim.

Crews will be on the roads today to treat roads and plow where snow accumulates. Crews first focus on interstates and primary routes, roads with vital emergency and public facilities, then lower-volume routes and neighborhood streets. Road conditions may vary and deteriorate through the day as bands move through and precipitation alternates between snow and freezing rain.

VDOT asks that drivers be alert for up to several inches of snow and sleet that will impact roads tonight through Friday morning, as well as potential for wintry weekend weather.

Scientists at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville have discovered a defect in immune cells known as “killer T cells” that explains their inability to destroy cancer tumors. The finding could be a significant boost to the burgeoning field of immunotherapy, which aims to harness the body’s immune defenses to defeat cancer, a UVASM news release said.

Some 32 Prince William County, Virginia Dept. of Transportation, and Virginia Railway Express projects are in the pipeline or are under construction, according to a quarterly report issued by Prince William County.
