The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) reports it has detected Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) (Lycorma delicatula) in Prince William County, Virginia, according to Michael Wallace, public information officer. The isolated SLF detection included egg masses and nymphs at one site within the county. SLF has also been found in the city of Winchester and the counties of Clarke, Frederick and Warren, which are all included in Virginia’s SLF quarantine. At this time, Prince William County has not been included in the SLF quarantine.

On May 6 at 6:27PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the intersection of University Blvd. and Robertson Dr. in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 52-year-old woman, reported to police that while walking in the above area, she was approached by a male passenger who exited from a maroon-colored SUV that stopped nearby. Tthe suspect brandished an electroshock weapon and shocked the victim before getting back into the vehicle and fleeing the area. The victim was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

While enroute to investigate a domestic call, Prince William County police officers were informed a shooting had occurred inside the home to which they were responding, according to a report filed by MPO Renee Carr, public information officer for the police department.
