Virginians are solidly opposed to President Obama’s plans to allow Syrian refugees into the country, with many residents concerned that doing so would make a future terrorist attack more likely, according to a new survey sponsored by the University of Mary Washington’s Center for Leadership and Media Studies.

First family medicine residents to start in July 2016 at Novant’s new medical school in NC

Beginning in 2016, residents who want to practice family medicine will have an opportunity to complete their training with the Novant Health Family Medicine Residency in Cornelius, NC. Residents will complete three years of extensive training with rotations in community clinics as well as Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center and Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital.

Virginia is first state in US to functionally end veteran homelessness

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced on Veterans Day 2015 that Virginia has been certified by the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the US Department of Veterans Affairs as the first state in the nation to functionally end veteran homelessness.

Noted actor Ed Asner is Grand Marshal for Greater Manassas Christmas Parade

Ed Asner, who played Lou Grant on the Mary Tyler Moore Show and later on a spin off titled Lou Grant and was the voice of the older man in the 2009 Pixar film Up and Santa Claus in the 2003 movie Elf, is the Grand Marshal for the 70th annual Greater Manassas Christmas Parade on Dec. 5.
