The Manassas Lioness Lions will be conducting a ceremony at the Manassas Cemetery on Center Street, Rt 28S (next to Harley Davidson dealership). It will be on Saturday, Dec, 12 at noon and the community is invited to attend. This is part of wreath-laying ceremonies across the U.S. on Dec. 12 at noon.

The Haymarket area General Assembly delegation has sent a letter to the State Corporation Commission requesting that SCC members consider holding the public hearing on the power lines at a time when the members of the delegation are able to attend--preferably after the General Assembly adjourns.

Dr. Sam Hill, the provost for the Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College, a position he has held since 2005, has been selected as Grand Marshal for the Lake Ridge Santa Parade on Dec. 12. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Prince William Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Manassas/PW Center for the Arts. He is also a member of the Lake Ridge Rotary Club.

House of Mercy in Manassas will be hosting its fifth annual Christmas with Mercy on Saturday, Dec. 12. The event provides gifts to children who, otherwise, might not receive any this Christmas. In years past, HOM has relied partly on Toys for Tots to help provide gifts; however, this year, it is relying on the "kindness of the community."

County Executive Melissa Peacor announced Dec. 1 her plan to retire after 30 years of service to Prince William County. Peacor's retirement will be effective January 31, 2016.

Michelle R. Robl of Bristow, who has worked in the county attorney's office for 22 years is the new County Attorney for Prince William. The Board of County Supervisors appointed her Dec. 1.
