Community comes together at Feb. 28 vigil for slain PWC Police Officer Ashley Guindon

An estimated 1,000 people turned out at the Prince William County Government Complex in Woodbridge VA the night of Sunday, Feb. 28, to pay tribute to Prince William County Police Officer Ashley Guindon, who was shot and killed on Saturday, Feb. 27, while responding to a domestic-related shooting in Woodbridge near the county complex.

Remains found in Manassas identified as a murder victim; PWC Police make three arrests

On February 19, detectives from the Homicide Unit received a positive identification on the victim in connection to the murder investigation from January 13 after remains were located in a wooded area on Barrett Dr in Manassas. Following the investigation, three arrests, including two juveniles, were made on February 19.

Assistant principal, compliance officer appointed for Prince William Schools

Prince William County Police Chief Steve Hudson announced Feb. 10 his plans to retire from the police department. Chief Hudson’s last day is scheduled for March 31, 2016.

March 16 signup deadline for April 2 STEM careers conference in Bristow

Register by March 16 for the annual STEM career conference to be held Saturday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to noon at Marsteller Middle School. The event is for students in grades 5–12 and interested parents, community leaders, and educators.

School food annual tasting rescheduled to March 15

The PWCS Annual Food Show will be held at Patriot High School in Nokesville on Tuesday, March 15. The tastings are open to the first 1,000 county students, parents, and staff to sign up in advance. There will be two tastings, one from 6–7 p.m. and a second from 7–8 p.m.
