Governor Glenn Youngkin has announced that Berkley Insurance Company, a subsidiary of W. R. Berkley Corporation, will invest $6.1 million to expand its current location in Henrico County by assuming an additional 8,920 square feet of office space to accommodate growth in its Berkley Aspire, Berkley Mid-Atlantic Insurance Group, and Verus Specialty Insurance businesses.

Governor Glenn Youngkin has proclaimed August 6-12, 2023 as Farmers Market Week in Virginia. The proclamation recognizes how the nearly 250 farmers markets in the state provide locally grown food to Virginia communities, create sales opportunities for local agricultural producers, generate revenue for local economies, and help to improve food access.

Governor Glenn Youngkin and Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) announced today, Aug. 1, that Virginia’s tourism industry generated $83 million a day, for a total of $30.3 billion in visitor spending in 2022, an increase of 20.3 percent from 2021, exceeding 2019 levels by 4.4 percent.

A total of 29 small business owners received a certificate of occupancy/written authorization to ‘Open for Business’ from Prince William County's Department of Development Services Small Business Project Management (SBPM) Program in May 2023, according to a county news release. About 26 new businesses have opened every month in 2023 since January.

“Our innovative program raises awareness about the advantages of skills training and eliminates cost as a barrier to getting it,” said Patrick Small, the city's Economic Development Director. “We have high-tech, high-wage jobs open with world-class employers in our community that don’t require college degrees,” he added.

Grucci, the famous fireworks manufacturer and designer plans to create 45 new jobs and to nvest $5.5 million to expand its assembly, storage, and distribution operations to Pulaski County.

Visitors expected to spend more than $1 million in the local economy, a news release said.
