About 80 engineering firms, organizations, agencies and contractors from all over the Commonwealth will give high school students the chance to network and learn about careers in civil engineering, architecture, technology, construction, environmental, administration and other transportation-related fields.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Sept. 26 that Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) will invest $87 million to modernize, and expand its customer support center in Roanoke County. The investment will create about 1,100 new jobs and enhance the working experience for 1,650+ current employees, becoming Roanoke County's largest employer, the news release said.

Amazon will establish a multi-story robotics fulfillment center and delivery station, which will bring more than 1,000 new full-time jobs. The Amazon center is anticipated to launch operations in 2025, with the delivery station anticipated to launch in 2024 in time for the holiday season.

Leiber, a German manufacturer that processes brewers’ yeast into animal nutrition, biotechnology, and nutraceutical products, will invest up to $20 million to establish its first U.S. operation in Innovation Village in Rockingham County, near the Shenandoah Valley.

Hermes Abrasives will add 30 new jobs and invest $5.6 million in moving some manufacturing operations from Mexico back to Virginia.

Governor Glenn Youngkin has announced that Berkley Insurance Company, a subsidiary of W. R. Berkley Corporation, will invest $6.1 million to expand its current location in Henrico County by assuming an additional 8,920 square feet of office space to accommodate growth in its Berkley Aspire, Berkley Mid-Atlantic Insurance Group, and Verus Specialty Insurance businesses.

The proclamation recognizes how the nearly 250 farmers markets in the state provide locally grown food to Virginia communities, create sales opportunities for local agricultural producers, generate revenue for local economies, and help to improve food access.

Governor Glenn Youngkin and Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) announced today, Aug. 1, that Virginia’s tourism industry generated $83 million a day, for a total of $30.3 billion in visitor spending in 2022, an increase of 20.3 percent from 2021, exceeding 2019 levels by 4.4 percent.
