Western PWC Del. Lovejoy to file five anti-data center bills

Western Prince William Delegate Ian Lovejoy (R-22) has issued a news release saying he will submit five unique pieces of legislation aimed at mitigating growing data center impacts, particularly in Prince William County.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Sept. 26 that Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) will invest $87 million to modernize, and expand its customer support center in Roanoke County. The investment will create about 1,100 new jobs and enhance the working experience for 1,650+ current employees, becoming Roanoke County's largest employer, the news release said.

Amazon will establish a multi-story robotics fulfillment center and delivery station, which will bring more than 1,000 new full-time jobs. The Amazon center is anticipated to launch operations in 2025, with the delivery station anticipated to launch in 2024 in time for the holiday season.

Berkley Corporation, will invest $6.1 million to expand its current location in Henrico County by assuming an additional 8,920 square feet of office space to accommodate growth in its Berkley Aspire, Berkley Mid-Atlantic Insurance Group, and Verus Specialty Insurance businesses.

Virginia back as a tourist destination! Travel and tourism revenues up over 2019 levels

Governor Glenn Youngkin and Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) announced today, Aug. 1, that Virginia’s tourism industry generated $83 million a day, for a total of $30.3 billion in visitor spending in 2022, an increase of 20.3 percent from 2021, exceeding 2019 levels by 4.4 percent.
