Resources from corporate partners reach classrooms and boost student achievement, imagination, and excitement. Partnerships of the Year were honored at the Prince William County School Board meeting on May 18.

Lockheed Martin-Manassas has joined Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay as a Businesses for the Bay Founding Gold Member. The organization is a partnership of large and small businesses in the Chesapeake Bay watershed undertaking voluntary actions to improve the health of the bay and its watershed, rivers and streams.

Data centers now okay in all Prince William County industrial, office and commercial zoning districts; fast-track rezoning approvals for data centers within the Data Center Opportunity Zone will be promoted, according to action by Prince William Board of County Supervisors May 17. A Data Center Opportunity Zone was established for properties totaling 10,000 acres "where supporting infrastructure is readily available or easily provided with minimal impact to residential properties," according to the news release.

Prince William County VA Police Department's crime reports for May 18 include armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, two commercial robberies, shooting into occupied dwelling, sexual assault and narcotics investigation.

Autobahn Indoor Speedway is now open at Manassas Mall, according to Kelly GIlfether, marketing manager. The speedway is the first all-electric indoor race kart facility in Prince William County, she added. These F1 inspired karts reach speeds of up to 50 mph for ages 13 and older. Junior karts are available for racers who are at least 48" tall, and 8-12 years old.

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced May 16 that he will lead a four-day marketing mission to Boston and Canada, May 17-20. “These business networking trips provide invaluable opportunities to personally encourage corporate leaders to invest in Virginia and create jobs for our citizens. Missions also give us the ability to promote our world-class tourism products. Meeting with important stakeholders, both domestically and abroad, is a critical avenue for telling the Virginia story and sharing why Virginia is for Lovers.”

The final local public hearing for testimony to be presented for the Dominion Power 230 kV and Haymarket Substation project–to provide electricity to what is thought to be an Amazon data center in Haymarket–was held at 7 p.m. on May 2 at Battlefield High School.
