Western PWC Del. Lovejoy to file five anti-data center bills

Western Prince William Delegate Ian Lovejoy (R-22) has issued a news release saying he will submit five unique pieces of legislation aimed at mitigating growing data center impacts, particularly in Prince William County.

Construction recycling facility opens in Prince William County off I-66

NOVA RECON, a new construction recycling facility, has opened in Prince William County. It offers concrete crushing to the construction industry in the Metro DC area. Located off I-66 at 7320 Old Compton Road, the six-acre facility features top-of-the-line machinery to process, screen, and sort crushed concrete products, according to a news release.

Veterans now eligible for new USDA commodity trader apprenticeship program

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has begun a new jobs program that will use the national apprenticeship system to hire new employees as agricultural commodity graders. USDA hopes many veterans will apply. Curriculum has been approved by DOL and VA, and enrolled veterans qualify for VA benefits.

PW Chamber to host Oct. 4 “conversation” with top local law enforcement officials

About 18,000 veterans hired in program’s first year; goal was 10,000 in three years

Governor Terry McAuliffe Sept. 28 recognized businesses for their ongoing commitment to creating employment opportunities for Virginia’s veterans at the Virginia Workforce conference, hosted by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. The 669 Virginia businesses certified under the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Program hired over 18,000 veterans, doubling the private sector commitment in a year.

Kraze Burgers opens at Manassas Mall

Manassas Mall management announced Sept. 20 that Kraze Burgers has opened in the new restaurant and entertainment wing at the mall. The eatery features premium burgers as well as veggie burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches and salads.

Nokesville Business Assoc. Sept. 21 meeting rescheduled to Sept. 28

Because there is a town hall meeting at the Nokesville Volunteer Volunteer Fire Department on Marsteller Drive on Nokesville Business Association’s regularly-scheduled date of Wednesday, Sept. 21, the NBA is rescheduling its meeting for Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. at the Chuck Wagon Restaurant.

Workshop on keeping a forest in the family

Former Journal Messenger reporter named National Communicator of Achievement runnerup

Bonnie Atwood of Richmond, VA and a former reporter for The Journal Messenger newspaper in Manassas, was named runnerup for the 2016 Communicator of Achievement Award given by the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW).
