Osbourn Park NJROTC Cadets to compete at Navy Nationals in Pensacola this weekend

Cadets in the Navy JROTC at Osbourn Park High School will be among the best NJROTC units in the world this weekend vying for honors at the “Navy Nationals.” They are members of the first unit from Northern Virginia to ever advance to the national competition at the Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida on April 7-8. The competition includes academic, athletic, and drill events. Only the top 25 units of the 575 units nationwide qualified to compete.

It’s Baseball Time - PWC signs letter of intent to pave way for new stadium

Prince William Board of County Supervisors has agreed to enter into a non-binding letter of intent (LOI) with Art Silber, owner of the Potomac Nationals, and The JBG Companies, owner and developer of Potomac Town Center. The LOI provides the framework for a potential deal that would secure the location of the Minor League Baseball franchise in Woodbridge. “There are a lot of details to iron out still,” said Corey Stewart, Chairman of the Board of County Supervisors. “However, this assures the commitment from all parties to continue in our good faith negotiations to find a way to keep the Potomac Nationals here in Prince William County.”

Virginia’s moratorium on uranium mining will stand, appeals court rules

The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond ruled on Feb. 17 in favor of the Commonwealth's 30-year moratorium on mining uranium in the Commonwealth. The majority of a three judge panel found that nothing in the federal Atomic Energy Act preempts the state's ability to regulate and restrict conventional uranium mining within its borders, according to a news release from the office of Attorney General Mark Herring.
