Liebherr Mining Equipment, an international leader in the production of industrial mining equipment, will invest $72.3 million to expand in the City of Newport News and the City of Hampton. The project will expand manufacturing capabilities and create 175 new jobs.

The company will establish its first light manufacturing, distribution, and wholesale U.S. operation and will purchase and retrofit the new facility to increase capacity and efficiency in accessing its customers in the U.S. market. The project will create 15 new jobs.

West Point Veneer LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Coldwater Veneer Incorporated that supplies quality veneer products worldwide, plans to invest $2.5 million to reactivate its former manufacturing facility in the Town of West Point to meet growing demand in the global wood veneer market, according to Governor Glenn Youngkin.

According to a news release from Virginia Farm Bureau, the property located in Caroline County north of Richmond had strong economic impact, hosting more than 536,000 visitors at 182 diverse events last year, bringing in substantial revenue, supporting many jobs and paying more than $1 million in taxes.
