The legislation would prohibit the importation of Russian crude oil, petroleum products, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and coal. “An immediate ban on Russian energy imports will help ensure we aren’t contributing in any way to financing Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified war against Ukraine,” said Senator Kaine.

Walgreens micro fulfillment center, bringing 249 jobs, to be built outside Richmond

Gov. Glenn Youngkin has announced that Walgreens, an integrated pharmacy, healthcare, and retail leader, will invest $34.2 million to establish a Micro-Fulfillment Center for high-value pharmaceuticals at the Atlee Station Logistics Center near Ashland in Hanover County, north of Richmond.

Amazon Fulfillment Center in Fishersville to bring 500 more jobs to Va.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Feb. 23 that Amazon will launch a new 1 million-square-foot non-sortable fulfillment center in Augusta County. It will be responsible for picking, packing, and shipping bulky or larger-sized customer items such as patio furniture, outdoor equipment, or rugs.

State Sen. Surovell’s bill SB 740 to study building safety requirements passes committee

Bill would study whether Virginia laws need to be changed to assist building inspection and maintenance. SB 740 passed by a unanimous vote, and comes in response to the tragic collapse of the Surfside condominium building in Florida and the structural damage discovered in 2016 at River Towers Condos in Belleview.

NOVEC’s president/CEO Stan Feuerberg to retire April 1

The Board of Directors of Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) announced Feb. 7 that Stan C. Feuerberg will retire as president and CEO, effective April 1, 2022. David E. Schleicher will become NOVEC's president and CEO upon Feuerberg's retirement.
