Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth has announced the sentencing of Robert Coltrain, 27, related to the murder of Brian Trotter which occurred in Prince William County, VA on or about Oct. 17, 2020.

Police spend two weeks rounding up six suspects in June 14, 2023 strong-arm robbery that occurred in a student bathroom at Freedom High School school in Woodbridge.

The investigation revealed the accused, two victims, and other occupants were inside a home in Dumfries when an argument ensued involving the accused. The parties were separated, and the accused went to upper level of the residence where the two victims were subsequently shot multiple times, both to the upper body.

When Prince William County Police offcers arrived on scene in Dumfries this morning two men were located with gunshot injuries. Officers provided first aid to both men who were transported to area hospitals by fire & rescue personnel. One of the men has since died from his injuries sustained during the altercation. The victim, a 10-year-old boy, was walking to the bus stop when a masked man approached him from a dark-colored vehicle. During the encounter, the man grabbed the boy without provocation, according to police.
