UPDATE: Glenkirk Elementary School students are being transported to Marsteller Middle School as a precaution due to the cold temperatures while police continue their investigation. Lunch will be provided. To ensure orderly transportation, students will NOT be released to parents from Glenkirk. Those insisting on picking up students should go to Masteller Middle School. This will ensure a safe orderly process for everyone. All students are safe and fully supervised.

New Directions Alternative School Counselor Karre Jones and Safety and Security Officer Joe Bagnerise are heroes. Their efforts on behalf of student John Mauk, landed the three, along with Principal Robert Eichorn, at the White House on the day after Christmas for a personal tour that included the Oval Office.

Governor Terry McAuliffe announced Jan. 8 that the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) has received a $1,965,730 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to help provide reemployment services to about 210 former coal industry workers in southwest Virginia, according to a news release.

Fauquier County school division anticipates that the high school graduation window for the three high schools will be Thursday, May 19, 2016 through Monday, May 23, 2016.

The second Community Input session on the proposed PW Parkway Elementary School at Chinn Park has been re-scheduled to Jan. 7, 2016, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Gar-Field High School.
