The Osbourn High School It's Academic Team will be appearing on the TV quiz show, It's Academic, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, beginning at at 10 a.m. on our local PBS channel. The episode was filmed on Saturday, October. 26, 2024.

State association names Steven L. Walts Region IV Superintendent of Year for second time

Dr. Steven L. Walts, school superintendent for Prince William County, has been recognized as Region IV Superintendent of Year for the second time. He was also recognized in 2010 for demonstrating innovative leadership, clearly targeting teaching and learning and for supporting academic rigor, particularly with specialty programs in elementary, middle and high schools.

George Mason University tuition moderately increased for 2016-17

George Mason Board of Visitors May 5 approved the university’s $1 billion budget for the 2016-17 academic year. This includes a 2.7 percent increase in tuition, fees, room and board for in-state students and more money for financial aid. For out-of-state students, the increase is 2.9 percent.

“Summer School” for small businesses: Flory Center slates free conferences

This summer, the Flory Center is hosting a free conference series beginning May 6 to address the most common questions and concerns of small business owners. Flory Center is located on Sudley Manor Drive across from Pat White/Ben Lomond Community Center. Registration required.

Register for NOVA’s fall semester beginning May 2

Open registration for Northern Virginia Community College’s fall 2016 semester begins May 2. Students may secure classes early while the most choices are available and not pay tuition until July 25. Starting July 25, tuition is due by 5 p.m. on the next business day after registering.
