The Osbourn High School It's Academic Team will be appearing on the TV quiz show, It's Academic, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, beginning at at 10 a.m. on our local PBS channel. The episode was filmed on Saturday, October. 26, 2024.

Applicants sought to fill Manassas School Board seat for less than 6 months

A Manassas resident who wishes to be considered for appointment to the Manassas School Board until Dec. 31, 2016 should file a letter of interest and a brief resume with the Clerk to the School Board by June 24 at 5 p.m.

SPARK, PWCS’ educational foundation, receives community support to fund 28 innovative programs

Each year, with donations from business and community partners, SPARK funds a variety of innovative programs that enrich the lives of PWCS students, teachers, and staff. These programs are not normally possible. SPARK awarded a total of 34 Innovative Grants that directly affected 28 schools and departments.

College fairs: Sept. 26 at Battlefield HS in Haymarket and Oct. 13 at Gar-Field HS in Woodbridge

All seniors and juniors and their parents are invited to attend one of the college fairs scheduled this fall to explore post-graduation options. Representatives from various colleges, universities, technical schools, and the military will attend.

Governor’s School @ Innovation Park to be led by new director starting July 1

W. Jason Calhoun, Ph.D., curriculum supervisor of science and family life education for Prince William County Schools and former science department chairman at Gar-Field High School, will be the new director of the Governor’s School @ Innovation Park.

New solar panel to generate electricity, heat and energy education in Nokeville

Future scientists will learn how to capture solar energy to generate electricity and heat through new energy education program with the installation of a solar array panel at T. Clay Wood Elementary School, the first step in an energy education and training program, “Solar for Schools” which Dominion is piloting in four schools statewide.

Scholarships awarded to future teachers and future STEM careerists

SPARK, the Education Foundation for Prince William County Public Schools, has awarded Dr. Edward L. Kelly Memorial Scholarship and Micron Scholarships for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and Career and Technical Education (CTE).
