A "Listening Panel" headed by Gainesville Supervisor Pete Candland and members of the Prince William County School Board will conduct a town hall meeting on Wednesday,July 20, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Park Valley Church, 4500 Waverly Farm Drive. Haymarket, Attendees are asked to speak out about what they want the county to do in the next five tears to improve property values and to protect and to improve quality of life.

Virginia Board of Education wants "community input" during a series of five public hearings this summer as it examines "how best to prepare students for academic and career success." The first public hearings is July 14 at Osbounr High School in Manassas at 6:30 p.m.

Karen Parkinson, coordinator of information for Fauquier County Public Schools, has received an Award of Merit for her writing from National School Public Relations Association. She received the award for a news release entitled “The Turn-About Teacher,” which detailed the transformation of Auburn Middle School teacher Ryan Wicka from troubled teen to successful educator.
