Gil Trenum, Prince William County School Board member, will hold a town hall meeting Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. at Marsteller School. Members of the community will hold a "send off" for Trenum after the town hall and the community is invited according to a press release from Supervisor Jeanine Lawson. Trenum has been recalled to active duty and is being deployed to Africa.

Delegates and Senators of the Prince William County delegation to the Virginia General Assembly and members of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors will host a press conference on Thursday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m., at the Kelly Leadership Center on the forthcoming Navy reservist deployment of Brentsville District School Board member Gil Trenum and the unresolved nature of a temporary replacement for him.

A shortage of acceptable and affordable school sites in the Lake Ridge area has forced Prince William County Public Schools to alter its plans to build two new elementary schools to help alleviate over-crowding in eastern Prince William County. Plans now call for construction of one elementary school at a site still to be determined, and classroom additions to three existing schools.

Seven Virginia colleges and universities will receive $2 million+ from the US Dept. of Education to assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds to apply to and graduate from college as part of the Talent Search program, which identifies and assists students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education.
