Governor Terry McAuliffe announced Nov. 30 that Virginia will receive $17.5 million through the federal Preschool Expansion Grant. These funds will allow the Commonwealth to continue to serve at-risk four-year-olds in high-quality pre-kindergarten programs across the state. Prince William County was among 11 localities that will receive funding for preschool programs.

Prince William Public Library System (PWPLS) has announced that Friends of the Montclair Community Library has been awarded $5,000 from the Best Buy Foundation Community Grant Program for teens who need to apply for the program by Nov. 30 (tomorrow).

Northern Virginia Community College President Scott Ralls has named Dr. Molly Lynch as provost for NOVA’s Manassas Campus after a nationwide search was coduced. Lynch has been the interim provost since February 2016.

Scott Albrecht, a 16-year veteran of the School Board of the City of Manassas, was recently honored at the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) state conference, as School Board Member of the Year for the Northeast region. VSBA recognizes one outstanding school board member from each of the nine VSBA regions who exemplifies local involvement in promoting student achievement.
