The Osbourn High School It's Academic Team will be appearing on the TV quiz show, It's Academic, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, beginning at at 10 a.m. on our local PBS channel. The episode was filmed on Saturday, October. 26, 2024.

Finance whiz kids from Prince William County high schools to participate in state contest

Teams from Freedom, Patriot, and Woodbridge High Schools will be going to Richmond on April 26 to compete in the final round of the Governor’s Economics and Personal Finance Challenge at Virginia Commonwealth University, due to their outstanding performance at Regional competition.

Purple Up to thank military families April 21

April is designated “Month of the Military Child” to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Prince William County Schools suggest joining others to honor and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices on the nationally recognized day of Friday, April 21 by wearing purple. This is a special way of showing support and recognition for the sacrifices that come with having military family members.

University of Mary Washington to offer Peace Corps prep program starting this fall

A new agreement with the Peace Corps will give UMW students an edge in the competitive volunteer initiative, according to a news release from the university located in Fredericksburg. Beginning fall 2017, Mary Washington will offer a Peace Corps Prep program.

Register now for NOVA summer classes that start May 22

Classes in the 10-week summer session begin May 22 and end Aug. 2. Eight-week summer sessions start May 22 and June 5, and five-week summer sessions start May 22 and June 27.

2017 gradation ceremony dates for Prince William County Schools

The following graduation dates, times, and locations have been announced for Prince William County Public Schools high school, summer school, practical nursing program, and adult education students. Events scheduled at Jiffy Lube Live Pavilion and the Patriot Center are subject to change.

Occoquan principal Hamish Brewer to head Fred Lynn School July 1

Hamish Brewer, currently principal of Occoquan Elementary School, has been appointed principal of Fred M. Lynn Middle School, effective July 1, 2017.

Kindergarten registration April 6 & April 20 in Prince William County

Kindergarten registration will be held countywide on Thursday, April 6, and Thursday, April 20. Parents should contact the school their child will attend for specific registration times. Children must turn five years old before September 30, 2017 in order to register for kindergarten.

Nearly 2000 employees of Prince William County Schools recognized for service milestones

Outstanding service and dedication to the Prince William County School Division is being recognized as 1,748 employees receive pins to honor their service. Three employees have served 45 years with PWCS. They are Pamela Chryst, Kilby Elementary; Wandalyn Boley, Stonewall Jackson High; and Nancy Weaver, T. Clay Wood Elementary.
