Six Prince William County Public School students are winners of the fourth and fifth-grade writing contest in the 2018 celebration of life and writings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The contest was open to students from Manassas City, Manassas Park City, and Prince William County.

Freedom High School "Soul Squad" Marching Eagle Band participated in the Virginia Governor's Inaugural Parade in Richmond on Saturday, Jan. 13. Only four bands across the commonwealth were selected this year, and Freedom was one of two high school bands participating.

Bull Run Civil War Round Table in Centreville, Va., a 501 (3) c organization, is offering a $2000 scholarship to a public or private high school senior who resides either in Fairfax County, Prince William County, or the City of Fairfax, Manassas, or Manassas Park.

OPHS senior Brightney Varghese and Patriot HS senior Jarrett Lash were among 68 students selected to attend the National Town Meeting on Tomorrow (NTMOT) held last fall in St. Louis. The students were selected through the Youth Salute Program to represent Prince William County.
