PE teachers are making classes more engaging with the use of Heart Zone Monitors that give students the chance to see their effort levels. Students wear the monitors on their arm during cardio-respiratory endurance activities, where they can see changes in their heart rate as they participate in class.

Members of the public may share their opinions Feb. 7 on a proposed boundary plan that would reassign portions of the attendance areas individually associated with Neabsco, Montclair and Wilson Elementary Schools. The School Board will vote the same night.

With passion, poise, and presence, six finalists in the 28th Annual Youth Oratorical Contest wowed the audience at the Cecil D. Hylton Memorial Chapel on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The students delivered their interpretation of the program theme, “In his own words: yesterday, today, and tomorrow.”

Nine fourth grade students at Round Elementary School in Manassas competed in the regional competition for the First Lego League at Osbourn Park High School on Nov. 4 and received the opportunity to move on to the state competition at James Madison University on Dec. 2- 3. It is the first time a First Lego League team from Manassas City Public Schools has moved onto the state level, according to Scott Baldwin, principal of Round Elementary School.
