In celebration of Black History Month, the mother of a Chris Yung Elementary School student and her sorority sisters set out to compile a set of books that positively feature main characters who are black. They donated the 35-book collection to the school library.

Several students from two high schools in Hohhot, China recently visited Osbourn Park High School and Hylton High Schools as part of an exchange program through Laurel International. American teachers and students will have the opportunity to visit Hohhot later this spring, according to a news release from Prince William County Schools.

Teach Like a Pirate by Dave Burgess is the latest book study for Marshall Elementary teachers participating in the Teacher as Readers initiative. Marshall Elementary teachers are not only reading the book, but over a two-month period they meet five times to discuss it and determine more effective teaching strategies.
