Female, 13, arrested with knife on Beville Middle School grounds

On Halloween, October 31, 2024, at 2:46PM, the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Beville Middle School located at 4901 Dale Blvd. in Woodbridge (22193) was alerted to a student in possession of a knife. After consultation with Juvenile Court Services, the case resulted in formal action and will be handled through the court process at a later date.

Prince William School Board chairman resigns in mid-term, for personal & professional reasons

After serving a little more than half the term to which he was elected, Ryan Sawyers, Chairman-at-large of the Prince William County School Board, resigned his position today, March 7. HIs resignation was sent in a letter written to Lillie Jessie, the school board's vice chairman who also represents the Occoquan District.

Beville Middle School students visit their former teacher, Atif Qarni, Va. Sec’y of Education

Classroom teacher turned Virginia Secretary of Education, Atif Qarni, has not forgotten his students. Qarni started the school year as an eighth-grade civics teacher at Beville Middle School in Prince William County. After winning the November Gubernatorial Election, Ralph Northam appointed Qarni to the state’s top educational post in Richmond. Shortly after settling in, he invited his former students to his new home.

Gar-Field graduate building libraries in Ghana to boost next generation of leaders

Samantha Boateng organized the Read2Lead campaign as her International Baccalaureate (IB) Studies Creativity Activity Service Project at Gar-Field High School. She began collecting book donations to send to Ghana. With help from her school community, the campaign was a huge success and it inspired her to go a step further. She founded the Read2Lead non-profit organization.

Chris Yung Elem. parent leads donation of 35 books to school library in honor of Black History Month

In celebration of Black History Month, the mother of a Chris Yung Elementary School student and her sorority sisters set out to compile a set of books that positively feature main characters who are black. They donated the 35-book collection to the school library.
