Students may get degrees by transfer of credits from four-year colleges to community colleges

“This bipartisan bill will make it easier for people to receive degrees that they’ve already paid for, worked towards, and earned,” said Sen. Mark Warner. “This bill will give schools one more tool to prepare degree seekers for the workforce – equipping them with credentials that would have otherwise been left on the table."

Principal dancers from Ballet West to lead master classes July 14 at Manassas Ballet

Beckanne Sisk and Chase O'Connell, principal dancers for the esteemed Salt Lake City company Ballet West, will teach two, 2-hour master classes on Saturday, July 14 at Manassas Ballet Academy in Manassas. Both the intermediate and the advanced classes are open to all area ballet students.

Future teachers, welders, practical nurses among 16 PWC graduates receiving scholarships from SPARK

Sixteen of the 6000+ Class of 2018 graduates who plan to become teachers and welders as well as graduates who plan careers science/applied science, or in STEM and Career and Technical Education (CTE) Fields (CTE have received scholarships from SPARK, the Education Foundation for Prince William County Public Schools, according to a PWCS news release. The 16 scholarships are worth $31,500+.

Update on threat to Manassas City public school; no suspect located

On Tuesday, June 5, at approximately 1 p.m., Manassas City Police received a call from Prince William County Police Emergency Communications Center advising receipt of a 9-1-1 call from an unknown male stating he had a gun and was experiencing a mental health crisis near a Manassas City Public School. The phone call was disconnected before the dispatcher could obtain further information. Manassas City Public Schools immediately implemented a lockdown at all City schools.

Manassas School Board meeting tonight cancelled due to lockdown at all city schools

The Regular Business Meeting of the School Board of the City of Manassas scheduled for Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 7 p.m., has been cancelled because of the (police directed) lockdown status at all City schools, according to Alba Garza, Clerk of the School Board, Manassas City Public Schools.

On the morning of May 29, a Prince William County School Resource Officer (SRO) was notified concerning some vandalism to the stadium complex at Battlefield High School. On June 4, the SRO received an anonymous tip concerning the possible identities of the suspects involved, according to the police report.

Va. Music Educators Assn. bestows BOC blue ribbon on nine Prince William County schools

Nine schools in Prince William County have earned the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) Blue Ribbon Award. The VMEA Blue Ribbon Award is the highest award given to music programs in Virginia and recognizes schools that achieve excellence in Band, Orchestra, and Choral (BOC) Performance.
