Stonewall Jackson High School graduate Emily Robinson, who works at Woodbridge Senior High School, is looking for unique (and tried-and-true) ways to ignite students' passion for science.

Northern Virginia Community College officials will present "College Night in Virginia" designed for anyone who wants to attend college. On Nov. 7 munch on pizza, hear talks on various college topics, put name in hat for scholarship drawing.

Battlefield and Forest Park high schools, home to Prince William County’s two Information Technology (IT) Specialty Programs, are among 30 high schools statewide selected to pilot the Microsoft IT Academy Program.

About 20 marching bands from throughout Northern Virginia came to compete at Battlefield High School during high winds to show their stuff. Battlefield sponsored the program, but did not compete. Fauquier’s Kettle Run High School took first place in the Class A division.

Prince William County Va. Schools are evaluating new books for mathematics. Until Dec. 21, the public has a chance to review and comment on the proposed textbooks, which cover from kindergarten math to calculus.

Prince William County schools welcomed its newest elementary school to the division on Aug. 24, when Piney Branch Elementary School, at 8301 Linton Hall Road in Bristow, held a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony. The 57th elementary school was opened by its community of students, teachers, special guests and families, who exhibited enthusiasm for the new school with a standing-room only audience.
