Female, 13, arrested with knife on Beville Middle School grounds

On Halloween, October 31, 2024, at 2:46PM, the School Resource Officer (SRO) assigned to Beville Middle School located at 4901 Dale Blvd. in Woodbridge (22193) was alerted to a student in possession of a knife. After consultation with Juvenile Court Services, the case resulted in formal action and will be handled through the court process at a later date.

Supervisor Candland to host Nov. 21 town hall meeting on education

Lions ask for book donations; drop off sites open until Dec. 15

Books suitable for local area students in grades kindergarten through a senior in high school (K-12) can find a new home if people will drop them off at one of six sites by Dec. 15. The book collection is a community service project of Manassas Lioness Lions Club.

Wakefield School in The Plains offering new four-year scholarship

A new "Archwood" four-year scholarship of $11,500 a year for a new incoming ninth grade student who demonstrates a commitment to engagement in and outside of the classroom has been announced by Wakefield School. An essay is required by March 10, 2014. The Archwood Scholarship, named for the original farm that is now Wakefield's campus, will be awarded to one new student entering ninth grade each year. The scholarship provides $11,500 each year for all four years of Upper School, provided the student continues to live up to the values and merits that characterize an Archwood Scholar.

Next semester registration starts Nov. 18 at NOVA

Registration begins Nov. 18 for NOVA’s 16-week semester that begins Jan. 13, 2014. Two eight-week sessions, starting Jan. 13 and March 17, are also offered. Online registration is available 24 hours a day. NOVA calls the upcoming term "spring semester."

Three PWC school have power issues on day before Halloween

Power has been restored at Beville Middle School and Enterprise Elementary School after a brief neighborhood outage; lunch may be delayed.
