The Prince William Human Rights Commission is calling on county high school students to enter an essay contest discussing how the Civil Rights Movement has impacted today’s society. Original, unpublished papers must be submitted by close of business Jan. 8, 2014.

PWCS adult education classes begin January 21 for residents of Prince William County, Manassas City, and Manassas Park. Classes are generally held three evenings a week at different locations around the county.

Northern Virginia Community College will be closed for winter break Dec. 23 through Jan. 1. Registration for the spring semester will continue online while NOVA is closed. To give students more time to complete registration transactions in person, NOVA will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11.

Alan Ross, a retired principal who is leading the 50th anniversary planning, encourages alumni and friends to find out more about the celebration of Woodbridge High School's half century of greatness in September 2014. "We have a Facebook event site and a website, http://www.50yearsofWSHS.com where people can find out more and sign up to be at the event," he said.
