Osbourn High School team to appear on It’s Academic Saturday, Jan. 4

The Osbourn High School It's Academic Team will be appearing on the TV quiz show, It's Academic, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, beginning at at 10 a.m. on our local PBS channel. The episode was filmed on Saturday, October. 26, 2024.

Info meeting set, applications being taken for Mt. Vista Governor’s School

Prospective Fauquier County students and parents are invited to an info meeting for Mt. Vista Governor's School from 7-8 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the Lord Fairfax Community College Middletown Campus (snow date Feb. 3) or on Jan. 28 at the LFCC Warrenton Campus (snow date Feb. 4).

Prince William Schools closed Tuesday, Jan. 7

PWC Schools issued an advance notice of schools being closed tomorrow due to the frigid weather.

Next session of Manassas Park Citizens Police Academy starts Jan. 8

If you are at least 18 and live, work or have a local connection to Manassas Park, you may be interested in learning more about the city's police department and how it protects the community during an 11-week "citizen police academy" that will be starting on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Prince William high school students asked to comment on Civil Rights Act; entries due Jan. 8

The Prince William Human Rights Commission is calling on county high school students to enter an essay contest discussing how the Civil Rights Movement has impacted today’s society. Original, unpublished papers must be submitted by close of business Jan. 8, 2014.

Registration begins Jan. 6 for Adult Basic Education, GED, and ESOL classes

PWCS adult education classes begin January 21 for residents of Prince William County, Manassas City, and Manassas Park. Classes are generally held three evenings a week at different locations around the county.

NOVA to close Dec. 23-Jan. 1 for winter break; register in person on Jan. 11

Northern Virginia Community College will be closed for winter break Dec. 23 through Jan. 1. Registration for the spring semester will continue online while NOVA is closed. To give students more time to complete registration transactions in person, NOVA will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11.

Community welcome at Battlefield High School for big robotics competition Dec. 14

Hundreds of middle and high school students from throughout the region will gather Saturday, December 14th in Haymarket to test their teamwork and engineering skills in a high-tech and high-energy ROBOTICS CONTEST.
