The US Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a $100,000 grant to Fauquier County Public Schools for a project that will train more than 1,000 school personnel and community members to respond to mental illness in children and youth. Fauquier school division is the only one in Virginia to receive such a grant.

A dozen Prince William County Schools' world language teachers including several from our area were presenters and participants at this year’s Foreign Language Association of Virginia conference. Two county Spanish teachers were rated tops among 200+ presenters. About 800 teachers and administrators attended the conference.

Stonewall Jackson High School is hosting an information session for those interested in attending the International Baccalaureate program for the 2015-16 school year and beyond on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7 pm in the auditorium.

Friday, December 5 is the final date that Prince William County Public Schools will accept offers on the sale of Nokesville Elementary School. The building and about 10 acres are located on the village's main street, at 12625 Fitzwater Drive, Nokesville.

Open registration for Northern Virginia Community College’s spring 2015 semester starts Nov. 17. Students can secure their classes while the most choices are available without paying tuition until Dec. 16. Starting Dec. 16, tuition is due by 5 p.m. on the next business day after registering.
