BEACON for Adult Literacy to train volunteers March 21 to assist ESL students

BEACON for Adult Literacy will hold a free training session on Saturday, March 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for adult volunteers who want to help the organization' s ESL (English as a Second Language) students.

Dispelling the myth about…“Their Parents Don’t Value Education”

I cannot tell you how often I have heard the above phrase from parents, politicians, and yes, educators themselves. Parents, usually those with formal education, like me, expressed sorrow for me during my principal era saying, "If only parents did their jobs!" My response, "Most do."

Dumfries school library to be named for Betty Covington

School Board Member Betty D. Covington (Potomac) will be honored soon when the Dumfries Elementary School library is dedicated. The date has not been announced.
