Osbourn High School team to appear on It’s Academic Saturday, Jan. 4

The Osbourn High School It's Academic Team will be appearing on the TV quiz show, It's Academic, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, beginning at at 10 a.m. on our local PBS channel. The episode was filmed on Saturday, October. 26, 2024.

Kindergarten registration at T. Clay Wood April 9 and April 23

T. Clay Wood Elementary School at 10600 Kettle Run Road, Nokesville, VA 20181, will hold kindergarten registration for the 2015-16 school year Thurs., April 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thurs., April 23, from noon to 7 p.m.

Pay increase for employees in approved PW School Board budget

Prince William County School Board will send the Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) an approved $1.04 billion operating and debt service budget for 2015-16. The budget maintains existing school programs and services, requires no layoffs and funds a one-step pay increase for employees and a modest reduction in class size.

New elementary school in Bristow named in honor of fallen police officer Chris Yung

Prince William County School Board voted unanimously on March 18 to name the new “Devlin Road” elementary school under construction at 12612 Fog Light Way, Bristow, in honor of the late Chris Yung, Prince William County police officer and Iraq war veteran.

Free April 10 writing conference at NOVA-Manassas aimed at educators

The Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College will host a free writing conference Friday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. including lunch. The event is targeted to educators but open to everyone.

Prince William County Schools named District of Distinction

The March issue of District Administration magazine recognizes Prince William County Public Schools as a District of Distinction. The award honors the Division’s approach to focus on the progress of probationary teachers, as well as performance pertaining to specific certified and classified staff, according to a PWCS new release.

Registration for NOVA’s summer classes starts March 31; classes begin May 18

Registration begins March 31 for Northern Virginia Community College’s summer sessions. Classes in the 12-week session begin May 18 and end Aug. 9. NOVA also offers two six-week sessions during the summer, starting May 18 and June 29.

Sen, Warner to host Academy Day on March 28

Senator Mark R. Warner (VA) will host his annual Virginia Service Academy Day on Saturday, March 28th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre in Charlottesville. The event will offer students, parents and school counselors a comprehensive overview of the United States service academies and their admission processes.

Fred Lynn Middle School to mark 50th anniversary March 20
