Two college courses just for high school juniors and seniors will meet at NOVA’s Innovation Park Center July 6-30. Students may select “History of Western Civilization I” (HIS 101) or “Introduction to Computer Applications and Concepts” (ITE 115). Each class awards three college credits for successful completion; dual credit might be available through the student’s high school. Info session on May 2.

Prince William County students Brianna Gilmore, Francesca Peavie, and Sydney Jordan have distinguished themselves as top scholars among the nation’s high school students by winning National Achievement Scholarship Program honors.

Congressman Gerry Connolly is partnering with Prince William County Public Schools to host his annual “Military Service Academy Night” for area students interested in attending one of the Service Academies. The program will take place on Monday, April 20, at Freedom High School, located at 15201 Neabsco Mills Road, Woodbridge, VA 22191, beginning at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, June 3 will be the final day of school for Fauquier County Public Schools unless FCPS misses any more time due to inclement weather (for example, spring flooding).

Prince William County School Board will send the Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) an approved $1.04 billion operating and debt service budget for 2015-16. The budget maintains existing school programs and services, requires no layoffs and funds a one-step pay increase for employees and a modest reduction in class size.

Prince William County School Board voted unanimously on March 18 to name the new “Devlin Road” elementary school under construction at 12612 Fog Light Way, Bristow, in honor of the late Chris Yung, Prince William County police officer and Iraq war veteran.
