Registration is taking place now for an eight-week session that begins Oct. 21 at Northern Virginia Community College. Registration for the session closes at 11:59 p.m. Oct. 20.

Four students from Northern Virginia Community College’s Biotechnology Program recently completed George Mason University’s Aspiring Scientists Summer Internship Program. The students are Solmaz Eskandari Nezhad of Manassas, Christopher Johnson of Haymarket, Daniel Alvarez-Castegnaro of Alexandria and Stacey Boyd of Springfield.

Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-10th) Sept. 21 announced that the deadline for students interested in applying for a nomination by the 10th District Service Academy Advisory Board to one of the nation’s military academies for the Class of 2020 by 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 1st in the Sterling office.

anassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College welcomed nine new faculty members at the start of the fall 2015 semester in subjects ranging from Chemistry and Biology to English as a Second Language and Art.

All juniors and seniors and their parents are encouraged to attend one of two upcoming college fairs - Sept. 28 at Osbourn High School and Oct. 15 at Hylton High School in Woodbridge - to explore post-graduation options.

The roar of bulldozers and other construction equipment filled the air moments before the Sept. 18 groundbreaking ceremony began for the new Kilby Elementary School on Horner Road. Under a tent where the future school’s administrative wing will be, Principal Amy Jordan welcomed dignitaries, including the school’s namesake, R. Dean Kilby, and his family.
