Local community members and/or parents or legal guardians of students who attend Ashland, Bel Air, Coles, Enterprise, King, McAuliffe, Minnieville, Montclair, or Rosa Parks Elementary Schools are needed to volunteer for the “Ferlazzo” Elementary School Boundary Planning Committee.

Leading up to the 40th anniversary celebration, Principal Kirsten Fisher recently held a birthday party at Pattie Elementary School to teach students about the school’s history.

Four students from Northern Virginia Community College’s Biotechnology Program recently completed George Mason University’s Aspiring Scientists Summer Internship Program. The roar of bulldozers and other construction equipment filled the air moments before the Sept. 18 groundbreaking ceremony began for the new Kilby Elementary School on Horner Road. Under a tent where the future school’s administrative wing will be, Principal Amy Jordan welcomed dignitaries, including the school’s namesake, R. Dean Kilby, and his family.
