Osbourn High School team to appear on It’s Academic Saturday, Jan. 4

The Osbourn High School It's Academic Team will be appearing on the TV quiz show, It's Academic, on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, beginning at at 10 a.m. on our local PBS channel. The episode was filmed on Saturday, October. 26, 2024.

“Spirits, Shadows and Sounds” will be on display in the Colgan Hall gallery through Nov. 4. The gallery is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

Nov. 2 workshop on support for students with dyxlesia

Prince William County Schools is offering a Nov. 2 workshop for parents on support for students with dyxlesia. The workshop will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kelly Leadership Center, 14715 Bristow Road, Manassas. The strategy workshop, presented by the Department of Student Learning and Accountability, will be in Conference Room 1101.

Info night Oct. 22 on Woodbridge MIddle’s same gender classes

A one-of-a-kind program at Woodbridge Middle School will be spotlighted on Thursday, October 22 at an information night at the school. Anyone interested in the school’s signature same-gender classes is invited to attend the presentation at 7 p.m.

Betty Covington “humbled” as Dumfries Elementary Library is named in her honor

Like a family reunion, the dedication of the Dumfries Elementary School library to long-time School Board member Betty D. Covington (Potomac) brought out former students, lifelong friends, a U.S.Congressman, and educators from across Prince William County. Speaking for Dumfries Elementary School colleagues, reading teacher Marcia Brugger called Covington “the heart” of the school."

Middle school musicians to take part in side-by-side concert with Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra

Local middle school students will be in the spotlight as they join the Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra (OBCO) in the first ever side-by-side concert on Nov. 5 at Hylton High School.

Special education serves about 11% of students ages 2-21 in Prince William County

The Special Education Department services students in numerous areas including Autism, Deafness, Blindness, Developmental Delays, Emotional Disability, Hearing Impaired and Intellectual Disability as well as Specific Learning Disability, Orthopedic, Speech and Language Impairments.

Upcoming workshops on the special education process in Prince William County

A series of three evening workshops for parents, educators, and community members will provide information on the special education process. The sessions, Oct. 15, 22 & 29, will be held from 7-9 p.m. in room 1101 A/B at the Kelly Leadership Center, 14715 Bristow Road, Manassas. PWCS Office of Special Education staff will present.

Two upcoming general information sessions will introduce Prince William County Schools' Specialty and Career & Technical Education programs and offer an overview of the application process.
